Ranthambore National Park is located in Sawai Madhopur district in Rajasthan. Ranthambore National Park has the largest number of tigers in India. Apart from tigers, this national park is known for its diversity of birds, flora and fauna. Ranthambore Sanctuary is spread over an area of ​​about 392 square kilometers. It was established by the Government of India in 1955 as Sawai Madhopur Game Sanctuary.

Wild animals especially tigers were hunted in this sanctuary. Increasingly, tiger poaching has threatened its existence. There was a time that in 1970 the number of tigers decreased to only around 1000. It became necessary to take some concrete measures to arrest the decline in tiger numbers. 

This park was declared as 'Project Tiger' by the Government of India in 1973. It is said that in 1973, a total of 37 tigers were raised in Ranthambore Tiger Reserve. To stop the hunting of animals in the forest, efforts were started by the employees of the forest department. 

Apart from surveillance, cameras have been installed in the forest. To the tireless efforts of the Forest Department As a result, the number of tigers increased to about 70 to 80 today. In 1980, Ranthambore Wildlife Sanctuary was given the status of a National Park. 

Ranthambore National Park is divided into two parts. In which Sawai Mansingh Sanctuary was declared in 1984 and the other part as Kevaladev Sanctuary in 1991. 

After that both these new sanctuaries were also linked with tiger conservation projects. Springs, ponds, canals etc. are available in Ranthambore National Park to ensure that the animals living there do not suffer from water shortage. 

Apart from tigers, wild animals, jackals, leopards, crocodiles, various species of deer, bears and pythons are also found in this national park. According to a survey, the park is home to 35 species of reptiles, 40 species of mammals and 320 species of birds. The park is popular for bird watchers.
